THE RUGBY COMMUNITY has been united in sending its best wishes to Welsh centre Owen Williams, who is in a Singapore hospital after suffering a serious injury during the World Club 10s.
The 22-year-old Cardiff Blues player, who won his first international cap last year against Japan and is rated as an excellent prospect, sustained the injury during the first half of the 3rd/4th play-off game against the Asia Pacific Dragons on Sunday afternoon.
While details of the injury have not been officially confirmed, it is believed that Williams suffered a neck injury.
“Owen Williams is to remain in hospital in Singapore after sustaining an injury at the World Club 10s,” read a statement from Cardiff yesterday. ”The region would like to take this opportunity to thank fans for their messages of support for Owen. Cardiff Blues will issue further updates when they are available.”
The Blues’ game against the Dragons was stopped for a lengthy period of time as medics appeared to be focusing on stabilising Williams’ neck following a tackle on the promising midfield player.
