Phil Neville to leave Everton at the end of the season

Neville, 36, says he will take time to weigh up his options before deciding on his next career move.

EVERTON CAPTAIN PHIL Neville will leave the Goodison Park club at the end of the season.

Neville, 36, broke the news this morning but made it clear that he has no intention of retiring and will continue playing at the top level for as long as possible.

“It’s been an honour to play for and captain Everton Football Club,” Neville, who moved to the Toffees from Manchester United eight seasons ago, said.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on Merseyside and will leave with immense pride.”

Neville recently started working alongside England U21 manager Stuart Pearce and will be a part of the team’s coaching staff for this summer’s European Championships.

Although he is in no rush to make a decision on his next move, the six-time Premier League champion does not want to hang up his boots just yet.

“I want to continue to play at the top level as long as I physically can, and will be weighing up my options before making a decision on my next move.

“I’ll now be doing everything I can to help Everton finish as high up the league table as possible.”
