Phil Neville more popular than Obama
EVERTON CAPTAIN PHIL Neville – a man not known for being either tech-savvy or charismatic – rose to the top of Twitter’s trends list last night.
The former Manchester United man overtook US President Barack Obama, for a time, as Toffees fans riffed on their skipper’s myriad attributes.
At one point Gary’s little brother was the third most talked about subject in the world on the website, behind ‘African Americans’ – as there are now no African Americans in the US senate after Tuesday’s mid-term elections – and ‘RIP Andy’, in commemoration of a dead American professional surfer.
In the wake of Gareth Bale’s headline-grabbing performance at White Hart Lane against Champions League holders Inter Milan, Neville – who kept the Welsh winger quiet in a Premier League clash recently – rose to viral noteriety as fans joked about his ‘superpowers’.
