There were also goals for new signing Iago Aspas and club captain Steven Gerrard.

LIVERPOOL EASED TO a 3-0 win against Thailand this afternoon thanks in large part to their playmaking Brzilian Philippe Coutinho.

The former Inter Milan attacker opened the scoring for the Reds after 17 minutes after he dribbled past three Thai defenders and coolly slotted home.

The home side almost equalised 10 minutes later when Teerasil Dangda shot narrowly wide. Brendan Rodger’s men upped the ante in the second half and new signing Iago Aspas brilliantly controlled a Coutinho pass before sliding home.

Aspas turned provider on 60 minutes when he found Steven Gerrard, who calmly chipped home his side’s third. Three minutes later and Luis Suarez entered the fray. The Uruguayan headed an effort off the crossbar on 67 minutes.

Thai goalkeeper Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool kept the scoreline respectable and Gerrard was denied by the crossbar at the death. Rodgers will be delighted with his team’s display and the fact that Suarez is back pitching in for the Red cause, despite interest from Arsenal and real Madrid.
