ARSENAL OWNER STAN Kroenke has backed Arsène Wenger amid increasing concerns over the manager’s health.
Wenger is under considerable stress due to the problems imposed on the club by the transfer window, which were then exacerbated by the side’s humiliating 8-2 loss against Man United at the weekend.
Kroenke is reluctant to speak in public as he is worried his words may be misinterpreted, however a source told The Guardian that Wenger’s job was not under any immediate threat, emphasising that his excellent overall record at the club has earned him significant respect:
“The club is very much behind Arsène Wenger from Stan Kroenke to the board, downwards and sideways. There is absolutely no suggestion of any conversations about his future. We are right behind the manager who has led us to such great success for 15 years.”
There is some good news for the club, however. Fenerbahce left-back Andre Santos looks set to replace the outgoing Armand Traoré, who is moving to QPR.
Monaco striker Park Chu-young is also set to come in, while the Gunners remain in contention to sign Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka.
So now that Wenger has been given the dreaded vote of confidence, do you think he should stay or go?
