Robbie Diack signs on for three more years with Ulster

The 27-year-old has extended his contract at Ravenhill.

ROBBIE DIACK HAS extended his contract with Ulster for another three years, keeping him at Ravenhill until the summer of 2017.

The 27-year-old originally signed for Ulster from the Stormers in 2008 and has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the province.

“This wasn’t a difficult decision to make,” said the back row forward. “Ulster Rugby is an exciting place to be at the moment. We have made huge progress as a team, we have a new stadium and excellent facilities.  I just want to play my part over the next three years and help Ulster pick up some silverware.”

Diack has becoming increasingly important to Mark Anscombe’s side in recent years, with last season’s 18 starts a record high for the South African. His ability to play across the three back row positions has been valuable for the northern province, and Diack has certainly grown as a player during his time at Ulster.

The Johannesburg native played Super Rugby for the Stormers in 2007 and 2008 before making the move to Ireland, and he is known to harbour ambitions of playing for his adopted country at senior level. Having received an Irish passport in 2012, Diack was part of the Emerging Ireland squad that competed at the Tbilisi Cup in Georgia during the summer.
