ROBBIE KEANE MAY not have scored the goal he craved at Euro 2016, but the Ireland striker got back to business on his return to club football last night.
LA Galaxy took on Vancouver Whitecaps at Stubhub Centre and picked up their first victory in eight league games to move up to fourth in the MLS Western Conference.
Steven Gerrard found Keane with a pass from midfield on 12 minutes, and the 35-year-old stepped inside his marker before unleashing an unstoppable curling effort into the top corner in a 2-0 victory.
I wish I was still in the Euros but unfortunately we didn’t get further,” Keane said afterwards. ”I’m delighted to be back with the Galaxy and delighted to get the three points.
“I knew if I got a chance I would put it away. Thankfully, it came very early in the game and we kicked on from there to get the second goal in the first few minutes of the second half.”
