SOUTHAMPTON AND IRELAND striker Shane Long has warned new Saints signing Charlie Austin that the club’s forward position is “mine to lose”.

Austin impressed in the Premier League despite being relegated with QPR last season, scoring 18 goals in 35 appearances.

However, Long has performed well himself this season, managing 10 goals in 12 starts, and he attributed his recent good form to being played regularly in his best position as the main attacker.

Check out the full interview, with Southampton’s official YouTube channel, in the video above.
