A busy night of international football, the build-up to the showdown with the French continues and Paddy Harrington is stateside.

1. #SIX NATIONS Declan Kidney maned his side to face France yesterday.

2. #INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL Scotland ran out 3-0 winners at the Aviva Stadium against Northern Ireland.

Leo Messi scored a late penalty as Argentina beat Portugal 2-1. We ran a minute-by-minute report but all the talking points are in our handy mop-up too.

3. AIRTRICTY LEAGUE Sport Fingal terminated the contracts of their players and pulled out of the Setanta Cup yesterday.

The FAI are expected to clarify the situation today but the future does not, clearly, look bright for the young club.

4. #PREMIER LEAGUE It had emerged that Chelsea and Liverpool had bids for Mario Gomez rejected during the January transfer window.

Gomez, 25, who joined Bayern from Stuttgart for about £30m, is the German league’s top scorer with 16 goals.

5. #AMERICAN DREAM! Pádraig Harrington starts his PGA Tour campaign at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-am today. The Dubliner is hoping to emulate Graeme McDowell’s success in the US last season.

6. #MAGNERS LEAGUE Ireland international Rhys Ruddock will lead Leinster for the first time in Thursday night’s Magners League game against Aironi at the RDS.

Ulster coach Brian McLaughlin has named a 31-man squad for the clash away to the Ospreys in the Magners League on Sunday.

7. #LONDON CALLING West Ham have won the race with Spurs for the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, according to the Telegraph. Negotiations will still have to be held but the Hammers are ‘the preferred bidders’.

8. #COMMERCIAL BREAK We know you loved our condensed version of Super Bowl XLV, but are you disappointed that it focused more on the football than the much more fun ads?
