The Morning Score: Tuesday

It’s going to be a long day at the office for Republic of Ireland football fans. Here’s all the sports news you need to know as you settle in for the ride.

1. #EURO2012 I suspect there’ll be more than a few chewed fingernails in the Aviva Stadium tonight. It’s make or break time for Ireland’s Euro 2012 ambitions as Giovanni Trapattoni’s side welcome an in-form Armenia to Dublin knowing that a draw will guarantee a place in the play-offs.

As announced by Il Trap yesterday, Simon Cox partners Kevin Doyle up front while Richard Dunne and Stephen Kelly both return to the side.

We’ll have minute-by-minute coverage live from the Aviva later on this evening. Join us, won’t you?

2. #RWC2011 The enigma that is Marc Lièvremont has named an unchanged French 22 for Saturday’s World Cup semi-final against Wales in Auckland. Once again, Morgan Parra starts at number ten, partnering Dimitri Yachvili in the half-back line.

3. #HAYE Reports this morning suggest that former world heavyweight champion David Haye is set to announce his retirement from boxing.

British Boxing Board of Control secretary Robert Smith told The Sun that he received an email advising him that Haye would not be renewing his licence, signalling the end of the Londoner’s career in the ring.

4. #INTERNATIONAL RULES Ireland manager Anthony Tohill will name his final squad for this year’s International Rules series in Australia later this morning.

Tohill named a 31-man provisional squad last week but will cut that number to just 23 today ahead of the team’s departure on 22 October.

5. #OLYMPIC STADIUM After months of legal wrangling, West Ham United’s move to the Olympic Stadium in London has collapsed, according to reports.

The British government is expected to announce the re-opening of the tender process in a statement later today.

6. #OOPS Next time you feel that the referee has robbed your team of goal, spare a thought for Spanish regional side Alondras. They lost 1-0 on Sunday after this effort was mysteriously chalked off .
