The Morning Score: Wednesday

The morning after the Cheltenham opening day before. Plus Champions League, cricket and Six Nations stuff too.

1. #CHELTFEST Yesterday was all about Ruby Walsh. The Irishman had three winners, including a first Champions Hurdle on Hurricane Fly. Check out how it all unfolded here.

2. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Manchester United booked their place in Friday morning’s quarter-final draw with a 2-1 defeat of Marseille.

Alex Ferguson can thanks Chicarito who grabbed a brace on a nervy night at Old Trafford. In the other game, Bayern Munich came out on the wrong end of a five-goal classic.

Champions Inter Milan went through on away goals thanks to Pandev’s late strike. Catch up on the goals in our minute-by-minute report.

3. #CWC Ireland’s Cricket World Cup dream came to a sad end after a below-par batting display saw them go down by 131 runs to South Africa in Kolkata. This is how it unfolded.

4. #SIX NATIONS Tomás O’Leary is out of Ireland’s final championship clash with England at Lansdowne Road on Saturday. The Munster scrum half suffered a frak eye injury during a speed training session with a sled when one of the straps snapped, striking him in the left eye.

The impact of the strap caused bleeding in the 27-year-old’s eye and, although that stabilised shortly afterwards, the injury is likely to see him out of action for two to three weeks.

5. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Chelsea welcome Copenhagen to west London tonight as they lie on the brink of the quarter-finals. The Blues hold a commanding two-goal lead from the first leg in Denmark. Real Madrid host Lyon at the Bernabeu with the tie poised delicately at 1-1.

6. #SICK Someone sent us this clip yesterday; Ronaldinho’s first touch is crazy good.
