The Morning Score: Wednesday

Arsenal, Tommy Bowe and the Irish cricket team are all making headlines today.

1. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League last night.

The Gunners managed to beat AC Milan 3-0 on the night, but lost 4-3 on aggregate, as they were made to pay for an abysmal first-leg performance. Benfica went through in the other tie, beating Zenit St Petersburg 4-3 on aggregate.

2. #SIX NATIONS Hooker Rory Best is Ireland’s latest injury concern ahead of Saturday’s Six Nations match against Scotland in Dublin. Best, who was tipped to replace the injured Paul O’Connell as captain, is suffering from a rib injury and is a doubt for this weekend.

Coach Declan Kidney will name his side to face the Scots later this afternoon.

3. #BRYAN CULLEN Dublin captain Bryan Cullen will learn today if he is to be suspended by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).

Cullen caught Laois’s Paul Cahillane with a late, high tackle during Saturday’s NFL Division 1 game at O’Moore Park and, after reviewing the video evidence, the CCCC may decide to suspend him for this weekend’s game against Armagh.

4. #ULSTER RUGBY Ex-Ireland international David Humphreys has tipped Tommy Bowe to make substantial impact at Ulster, after finalising a deal to sign for the province.

Humphreys also believes Bowe’s move will be beneficial for the Irish team.

5. #CRICKET Ireland lost by 21 runs to an Eastern Province XI in Port Elizabeth yesterday.

The game was Ireland’s final warm-up match ahead of the World T20 qualifiers, which begin in Dubai next week.

6. #UFC American sports writer Darren Rovell has suggested some people watch the sport because “think the fighters are going to die”.

He made the claim on Newstalk’s Off the Ball last night.

Taking stick: What constitutes success for Dublin’s hurlers this year?

On top of the world, now Rory has to stay there
