THE QUARTER-FINAL draws for the senior hurling championships in Tipperary and Waterford have both been made this evening.

Drom & Inch, Borris-Ileigh, Mullinahone and Kilruane McDonaghs all advanced to the last eight stages after the first round ties in Tipperary today.

The biggest casualties of the first round action were Loughmore-Castleiney – senior champions in 2013 and senior finalists in 2014 – after they lost out 1-16 to 0-18 against local rivals Drom & Inch.

Next Sunday, Drom & Inch – who will include Hurler of the Year favourite Seamus Callanan – will take on North divisional champions Kiladangan while Mullinahone meet Clonoulty-Rossmore.

Saturday’s quarter-final action will see Tipperary All-Ireland winners in opposition as Borris-Ileigh (Brendan Maher and Dan McCormack) face Thurles Sarsfields (Padraic and Ronan Maher, Michael Cahill and Aidan McCormack).

The meeting of Kilruane McDonaghs and Killenaule is also scheduled for Saturday.

In Waterford, the meeting of city rivals Mount Sion and De La Salle is the pick of the last eight clashes. Reigning champions Ballygunner will face Abbeyside at the quarter-final juncture.
