HARLEQUINS DIRECTOR OF rugby and ex-Irish international Conor O’Shea has compared beating Harlequins on Saturday to winning the Heineken Cup.
O’Shea paid tribute to his side following their victory, saying: “It was the size of the heart against the size of the wallet and the heart won today.”
He described his ecstasy upon winning the game, while emphasising that they should not get too carried away, telling reporters:
“It feels like we’ve won a cup final but it’s a pool game. We have to make sure we keep learning.”
The victory allowed Harlequins to gain revenge on the side that had ended their 14-match unbeaten run last week with a 21-10 defeat.
Moreover, it is first time an English side has won in France for 11 years, and the first time Toulouse have lost at home for almost three years.
The victory leaves Harlequins in a healthy position to qualify, as they sit second in Pool 6, three points ahead of their nearest challengers Gloucester.
