Rooney out, de Gea and Ings start - Manchester United and Liverpool have named their teams
Kick-off is at 5.30pm

MANCHESTER UNITED ARE without captain Wayne Rooney for this evening’s clash with old rivals Liverpool.

It was reported that Rooney injured his hamstring in training yesterday, and the striker is not even among Louis van Gaal’s substitutes.

“It’s not too serious but we cannot take a risk,” the United boss reported.

Goalkeeper David de Gea makes his first appearance of the season after committing to a new four-year contract.

Danny Ings makes his first start for the visitors, replacing the injured Philippe Coutinho.

Kick-off is at 5.30pm. Follow all of the action in our liveblog here >
