VIDEO: Kenyan orphans re-enact Larry Bird's steal

The children of Grace Care Centre have staged the winning play from Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference finals.

MORE THAN 200 Kenyan orphans have paid tribute to one of the most memorable moments in NBA history by recreating Larry Bird’s steal on Isiah Thomas.

As part of a fundraising event, the children from Grace Care Centre in West Nairobe have been filmed reliving the play from Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference finals.

The Detroit Pistons lead the Boston Celtics 107-106 and are in possession after Dennis Rodman’s block with five second left on the clock.

About to go into Game 6 3-2 up, Thomas fails to hear a timeout call from coach Chuck Daly and throws to Bill Laimbeer. Bird has read the pass, however, and fakes to cover Rodman before making the interception.

He finds point guard Dennis Johnson who scores to complete an epic comeback. Here’s the original footage.
