Wallabies put away €1,500 worth of free booze on Dublin night out

The Australian players took full advantage of the generosity of one Dublin nightclub last week, before getting banned.

IT HAS EMERGED THAT the Wallabies players who hit the tiles in Dublin last week before their November Test against Ireland consumed nearly €1,500 worth of free alcohol in Krystle Nightclub.

As result of their boozy night out in out capital city, Adam Ashley Cooper, Nick Cummins, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Benn Robinson and Liam Gill have been suspended for Australia’s clash with Scotland on Saturday, with Paddy Ryan set to sit out the Wales game a week later.

Dave Dennis, Kane Douglas, Saia Fainga’a, Bernard Foley and Nick Phipps were given written warnings for their involvements, while Scott Fardy, Mike Harris, Ben McCalman and Nic White all got a verbal telling-off.

A large group of those players enjoyed a four-and-a-half hour stint in the exclusive Krystle, where the club’s VIP section was opened especially for the Aussie players and where they were treated to a generous supply of free booze.

Apparently, beer, vodka, Jack Daniels whiskey and Captain Morgan rum featured heavily on the list of orders, which Krystle’s co-owner Rangan Arulchelvan estimated was worth around €1,500.

“There were eight or nine players here, I was here myself on that night and they behaved well,” Arulchelvan told The Daily Telegraph.

They came in at about 11pm and were here until 3.30am, people came up and took photos with them and wanted autographs signed throughout the night and the players were friendly, they posed for photos and signed everything.

“I was personally shocked when I saw the news come out. They had a mix of everything, I would say it was worth about €1,500. We like to look after international teams, we’ve had the England and Ireland rugby teams in here, the All Blacks, the Australian cricketers.”

As a result of the events last week, Wallabies head coach Ewen McKenzie has imposed a booze ban for all days except after matches, and there will now be a strict midnight curfew enforced while the players are in camp. Lesson learned.
