Bebe failed to make an impact during his four years at United.
You're kidding right?

Bebe: I thought Man United were joking with €9m offer

The Portuguese winger moved to Old Trafford in 2010 despite Alex Ferguson having never seen him in action.

BEBE ADMITS HE thought Manchester United were joking when they signed him for €9 million in 2010.

The 24-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Vitoria de Guimaraes despite the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson had never seen the forward play and based the move on recommendations from a scout.

Bebe made only seven first-team appearances for United and was sent out on loan to Besiktas, Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira before joining Benfica on a permanent deal in July 2014.

“Everything seemed perfect at Guimaraes,” the new Cordoba loan signing told Marca. “I assumed I would remain their player.

But I had a contract with a €9 million release clause and, within two days of signing it, there were clubs interested in pay. I went to Manchester United but I thought they were kidding with their bid.

“I learned a lot from Sir Alex Ferguson, but what went wrong was that I was alone. I was too inexperienced to handle the situation.

“In Manchester I was a child and was alone. I’ve grown and I am a better person, very different.”
