IT WAS YET another red-letter day for Rena Buckley and Briege Corkery at Croke Park on Sunday.
The superb dual stars dove-tailed around the middle of the field as Cork stormed to TG4 All-Ireland ladies senior football glory at GAA HQ.
Both players have featured in each and every one of Cork’s ten final victories over the past eleven years and in that time, they’ve also collected six senior camogie titles.
Kilkenny hurler Henry Shefflin may have earned ‘la decima’ in 2014 when he claimed his tenth All-Ireland senior medal but Corkery and Buckley have six more each.
Between them, Corkery and Buckley have now amassed a staggering tally of 32 All-Ireland senior medals between both codes.
Sunday marked the sixth ‘double’ for Corkery and Buckley, who claimed camogie and ladies football medals in the same season in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2014 and again this year.
