FORMER IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Darren O’Dea has joined Scottish Premiership side Dundee after his stint in India with Nicolas Anelka-managed Mumbai City came to an end.

The club’s official website confirmed that O’Dea has completed a deal until the end of the season with the side, who are currently seventh in Scotland’s top tier.

O’Dea is one of the most well-travelled Irish footballers in recent years — in addition to Scotland and India, the ex-Celtic defender has also played in Canada (Toronto FC), England (Blackpool) and Ukraine (Metalurh Donetsk).

The 28-year-old centre-back featured for Ireland 20 times in total, and was part of Giovanni Trapattoni’s Euro 2012 squad, and also started in the infamous 6-1 hammering by Germany at the Aviva Stadium in 2012.

O’Dea made his debut for Celtic at 19 and featured in the starting XI for the Scottish side as they narrowly lost 1-0 after extra-time in the Champions League last-16 against AC Milan in 2007.

The Dubliner made over 50 appearances during his time at Celtic, and the honours he picked up include two Scottish Premier League titles, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup.
