Norman Parke's conqueror 'provisionally suspended' under UFC's anti-doping rules

The Brazilian veteran most recently competed at UFC Fight Night 77.

THE FIGHTER WHO ended Norman Parke’s five-year unbeaten run has been suspended under the UFC’s new anti-doping rules.

Gleison Tibau has been ‘provisionally suspended’ due to a potential failed out of competition drug test, according to a statement released this evening.

The Brazilian defeated Parke at UFC Fight Night 59 in Boston’s TD Garden last January to end the Antrim fighter’s 11-fight unbeaten record.

“The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has notified both Gleison Tibau and UFC that he has been provisionally suspended due to a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition test,” the UFC statement read.

“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Gleison Tibau. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time in the process.”

The statement, however, doesn’t state when the test took place, meaning the violation could have occurred after the 32-year-old’s win at UFC Fight Night 77 in November.

Tibau (17-9) defeated Abel Trujillo in Sao Paulo to continue his impressive record in the promotion’s lightweight division.

Parke has since lost to Francisco Trinaldo but defeated Reza Madadi by unanimous decision in Dublin. He has been added to the card for London in February where he will go head-to-head with Rustam Khabilov.
