'My work was betrayed' - Mourinho launches attack on Chelsea players

The Blues boss was highly-critical of his under-performing stars in the wake of this evening’s defeat to Leicester.

JOSE MOURINHO HAS admitted Chelsea deserved to lose to Leicester City tonight, before claiming he has been “betrayed” by some of his players.

Goals from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez put the Foxes ahead this evening and, despite Loic Remy pulling one back in the second half for the reigning champions, they suffered a 2-1 defeat — their ninth in the Premier League this season.

The result leaves the Blues just one point off the relegation zone heading into the last round of fixtures before Christmas.

“I feel that my work was betrayed, if that is the right word,” Mourinho told Sky Sports after the final whistle.

“It’s difficult for us to score goals when you have players who are not on their best level. When you have some players, especially in crucial positions, who didn’t go to the normal level it’s difficult.”

He added: “All last season, I did phenomenal work and brought them to a level that is not their level. It is more than they really are.

“All this season, we are doing so bad that the players for some reason, I’m not saying all of them as I don’t want to put some of them in the same basket, but clearly with some of them it is so difficult.”
