WESTMEATH TRAILED BY six points after 53 minutes but they sealed a stunning fightback with a 1-20 to 0-21 extra-time win over Laois tonight.
The Lake County will take on Kilkenny in the last four in a repeat of last year’s quarter-final.
Westmeath found themselves trailing by 0-16 to 0-10 with seven minutes left but a goal from Ciaran Doyle and a last-gasp point by Darragh Clinton helped force extra-time.
James Goonery hit a crucial brace in the extra period to secure the win.
Wexford hammered Offaly by 4-21 to 2-9 to seal a semi-final against Carlow. The Model County led by two points early on in the second half but they cut loose from that point.
Stephen O’Gorman, Cathal Dunbar and Darragh Pepper all hit the back of the net as they ran up a big score on the Faithful.
Finally, Carlow were deserved 1-21 to 2-14 winners over Kildare.
The teams were level at 1-9 apiece after an entertaining opening half, but the Barrowsiders were good value for the win after the break.
