Conor McGregor is 'bad for the sport' according to UFC rival Ricardo Lamas

The former title challenger has been talking about ‘The Notorious’… again.

CONOR McGREGOR SEEMS to have gotten under the skin of several UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) featherweights, but none more so than Ricardo Lamas.

Despite having had his shot at reigning UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo last year, Lamas is clearly envious of the manner in which McGregor has risen to stardom in the world of mixed martial arts.

The 32-year-old American recently made a dreadful Conor McGregor parody video, which suggested that the Dubliner’s impressive progress was down to his ability to talk, rather than fight.

Lamas headlines UFC Fight Night 63 in Virginia this evening against Chad Mendes — another featherweight who’s been rubbed up the wrong way by McGregor — and he was asked about the finale of the UFC 189 world tour in Dublin earlier this week.

During the event at the Convention Centre, which took to place to promote the UFC 189 title bout between McGregor and Jose Aldo, McGregor controversially grabbed hold of the champion’s belt, much to the delight of the Irish fans in attendance.

Speaking to MMAFighting.com, Lamas said: “He (McGregor) has just been making a spectacle of himself and got the attention that he wanted. I think some of the things that he does are bad for the sport… like being unprofessional.

“We want to be a mainstream sport and we want to be professional athletes. You don’t see basketball players going up and stealing trophies away from other players and stuff like that. It kind of is (WWE stuff) what he’s doing, yeah.”
