Absolutely spectacular atmosphere in Naples as home fans put on a show for Madrid tie

Supporters began to arrive six hours before kick-off.

THEY MAY TRAIL from the first-leg but Napoli are intent on creating a memorable evening in southern Italy.

Real Madrid brought a 3-1 advantage with them but the Spaniards face into an intense atmosphere at the Stadio San Paolo for the Champions League Round of 16 second-leg tonight.

Some supporters gathered in the stadium six hours before kick-off and, inevitably, they put on an incredible pre-game show.

Usually, both teams enter the field from one specific end of the ground but for tonight, to get the full impact of the electric atmosphere, the players walked on from the middle of the venue.

With some magnificent tifos at either end of the ground, the home support ensured it was a cauldron of noise too – greeting the players’ entrance and the Champions League anthem with deafening roars.

The intensity has worked a treat too: Dries Mertens has opened the scoring after 24 minutes to make it 3-2 on aggregate.
