NFL Sunday Hangout: Join us here to discuss all of the big Week 3 action

Who’ve you got in this evening’s games?

Trump not clearing much up, as he’s asked why he hasn’t apologised for his ‘birther’ campaign against Barack Obama.

Moving onto the ‘birther’ issue now…

Waterford Whispers weighing in on that strange moment…

“I tend to agree with that,” Trump says, in a rare moment of accord. When people are on watch lists or no-fly lists they shouldn’t be allowed have guns, according to Trump.

“African Americans and Hispanics are living in hell because it’s so dangerous,” according to Trump.

You walk down the street you get shot.

The BBC’s Reality Check weighs in on that Isis comment from Trump:

This is a strange claim to make. Clinton is 68 years old. The so-called Islamic State did not appear on the scene until 2009, although its roots stretch back to the Sunni terror group al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), which started in 2004.

“Stop and frisk was found to be unconstitutional,” Clinton argues, responding to Trump’s call for greater “law and order” in America’s cities.

Trump now talking up “stop and frisk” as he paints a stark picture of America’s urban streets.

“Our police, in many cases, are afraid to do anything,” Trump says.

“Stop and frisk was declared unconstitutional in New York,” host Lester Holt says, interjecting.

Host Lester Holt moving on to next subject, with a question about race.

“How do we heal the divide?”

And here’s a reminder of the late games, with Steelers-Eagles on Sky:

  • St Louis Rams @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks
  • New York Jets @ Kansas City Chiefs
  • San Diego Chargers @ Indianapolis Colts
  • Pittsburgh Steelers @ Philadelphia Eagles

Here’s the full rundown of the early Sunday results:

  • Arizona Cardinals 18 @ 33 Buffalo Bills (how did we forget to mention this above?!)
  • Washington 29 @ 27 New York Giants
  • Oakland Raiders 17 @ 10 Tennessee Titans
  • Detroit Lions 27 @ 34 Green Bay Packers
  • Denver Broncos 29 @ 17 Cincinnati Bengals
  • Minnesota Vikings 22 @ 10 Carolina Panthers

Wow. That was a bit unpredictable.

For starters, how bout dem Browns who are on the brink of turning a surefire 0-16 season into a 1-15 season. They’ve got the ball in overtime against the Dolphins after it finished 24-24 in Miami.

The Ravens are 3-0 — and no, we’re not really too sure how either.

The Packers were 31-10 up against the Lions at the half and still nearly managed to throw it away, holding on for a 34-27 win in the end.

And the Giants? Well they did what everyone expects the Giants to do and lost at home to Washington.

Your thoughts on all of that?

Or, if you fancy something different, how about this feature on the 10th anniversary of Steve Gleason’s blocked punt — and the tragedy that subsequently unfolded:

Many Irish American football fans may have missed the most important play in New Orleans Saints history. No, it wasn’t one of Drew Brees’s 433 touchdown passes. It wasn’t even Thomas Morstead’s Super Bowl XLIV-changing onside kick.

Instead, the franchise-defining play happened on the first drive of a regular season Monday Night Football game between the Saints and their divisional rivals, the Atlanta Falcons.

The play-by-play will read something like: ATL: Punt (M Koenen), BLKD (S Gleason), REC NO (C DeLoatch) TD. 6-0 NO.

But as a symbol for the city, residents of Big Easy prefer to refer to it by one word:

Rebirth.

Here’s a rundown of the 6pm kick-offs:

  • Arizona Cardinals @ Buffalo Bills
  • Oakland Raiders @ Tennessee Titans
  • Cleveland Browns @ Miami Dolphins
  • Baltimore Ravens @ Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Denver Broncos @ Cincinnati Bengals
  • Minnesota Vikings @ Carolina Panthers
  • Washington @ New York Giants

Washington-Giants is the Sky game if that’s where you’re watching.

Good evening — and welcome to Week 3! The week when all those kneejerk reactions are either vindicated or made to look a little bit silly. A great week, I’m sure you’ll agree.

The Patriots kicked things off by walloping the Texans and in the process showing that they’d win a game with me under centre.

Belichick’s boys are 3-0 without Tom Brady. Can the Ravens, Broncos, Vikings and Giants keep a hold of their own perfect records — and who will win the battle of the 2-0 Eagles and Steelers later this evening.

Lots to look forward to.
