Dortmund reject Barcelona bid for Ousmane Dembele as club hold out for €150 million

The 20-year-old French striker scored 22 goals in 32 Bundesliga games last season.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND HAVE confirmed they rejected an offer from Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele, with the Bundesliga club also suspending the French striker for missing training earlier today.

Dortmund boss Peter Bosz revealed Dembele missed training on Thursday and that the club could not get in contact him.

Shortly afterwards, an announcement was released revealing that negotiations had taken place, but that a deal was “not currently likely.”

“Borussia Dortmund has held talks with the Catalan football club FC Barcelona regarding the possible transfer of the BVB player Ousmane Dembele to FC Barcelona,” a statement read.

“During this meeting, the representatives of FC Barcelona submitted a bid which did not correspond to the player’s extraordinary footballing ability and value and not to the present economic situation of the European transfer market.

“BVB therefore rejected this offer.  As there is no other offer from FC Barcelona to date, there is currently no transfer of the player to FC Barcelona and this is not currently likely.”

Dortmund have insisted that the club would not consider selling the 20-year-old for less than €150 million, with the Catalans seeing Dembele as a replacement for Neymar.
