Paul Galvin confirms he'll be playing alongside Brogan brothers at Dublin club this year

St Oliver Plunkett/Eoghan Ruadh’s senior panel will be bolstered by the Kerry man’s arrival.

FORMER KERRY STAR Paul Galvin has confirmed he’ll be playing his club football alongside Alan and Bernard Brogan at St Oliver Plunkett/Eoghan Ruadh this season.

The 2009 Footballer of the Year played a limited amount of hurling with Kilmacud Crokes last year and he has now switched his football allegiance to the Navan Road club to help Plunkett’s claim their first Dublin SFC title.

Three-time All-Star Galvin confirmed the move on Today FM’s Dermot and Dave show this afternoon while chatting about his latest clothing line, six weeks after the story was first reported.

Galvin left the Kerry panel at the start of 2016 and transferred from hurling club Lixnaw to Crokes.

However, he has decided against pursuing that switch any further and has committed to playing football with Plunkett’s, who reached Dublin finals in 2008, 2011 and 2014, for the coming season.

The Cabra club, whose senior team are managed by former Dublin star Paul Curran, endured further disappointment in last year’s Dublin championship, suffering a surprise first-round defeat to eventual finalists Castleknock.

“I’m going to play a bit in Dublin this year, with Plunkett’s,” Galvin told Today FM.

“I’m friends with a few of the boys there, and there’s people from home involved at board level there … they’re good lads and they’ve got a very good manager.

“I’m still at my playing weight. I’m still able to do in the gym what I could do two or three years ago.

“I just feel I don’t want to be on the couch in the evenings at six o’clock, seven o’clock, you know what I mean?”
