Official! Pep Guardiola to leave Bayern with Carlo Ancelotti taking over

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

PEP GUARDIOLA WILL leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current campaign, with Carlo Ancelotti taking over at the Bundesliga giants.

The club’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed the news to German tabloid BILD.

“We are grateful for everything Pep Guardiola has given our club and hope we’ll celebrate plenty of success this season,” he said.

“With Carlo Ancelotti, Bayern once again will have a successful coach and we look forward to working together.”

The Italian, who was sacked by Real Madrid at the end of last season, has signed a three-year deal.

There have been intense rumours suggesting Guardiola’s next destination will be Manchester City although Chelsea are also seeking a new permanent boss while Manchester United’s current difficulties have ensured that the pressure is mounting on Louis van Gaal.

The Spaniard arrived in Bavaria in 2013 after an incredible four-year stint at Barcelona, where he won the Champions League twice, picked up three La Liga titles and claimed two Copa del Rey victories.

In his two full seasons with Bayern so far, he’s won back-to-back championships and a German Cup though another Champions League has eluded him – suffering semi-final defeats in 2014 and 2015.
