Robbie Keane sees himself playing football for another 'four or five years'

Robbie’s here to stay, folks.

ROBBIE KEANE HAS revealed that he could be pushing 40 before he hangs up his boots.

Ireland’s all-time leading scorer turns 35 this summer but he has no plans to retire and can see himself playing for another “four or five years.”

Keane, who was crowned the MLS Most Valuable Player last season, was the LA Galaxy’s hero with the extra-time winner in December’s MLS Cup final.

It clinched the Dubliner’s third title in America but he prompted speculation afterwards when he admitted that that he was unsure about his future.

“All I said was that I wanted to recharge the batteries and see, because I see myself playing for a long time,” Keane clairified in an interview with SI.com’s Brian Straus.

I see myself playing longer than what I have left [on my current contract], which is one year. I see way longer than that – like four or five years – I can see myself playing.

Keane will be reunited with former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard when the latter moves to Hollywood this summer.

It leaves Bruce Arena’s side in an even stronger position to defend their crown, and Keane’s appetite for success is as insatiable as ever.

I want four [MLS Cups] next year. And then after that I want five. And I’ll continue to try for that because, first and foremost, I love playing the game.

“It’s simple. And when you’re playing, you’re enjoying yourself, but you play to win games. You play to be champions.
