Shane Duffy plays down Ireland injury fears after pulling up against Everton
SHANE DUFFY EASED Ireland fans’ fitness fears ahead of next month’s crucial World Cup play-off.
The centre-half pulled up in the second half of Brighton’s 1-1 draw against Everton yesterday with a groin injury.
Duffy is scheduled to have a scan today, and while the Derry man said that he felt a ‘pop’, he moved to reassure fans that the injury may not be too severe.
“I was running back and I just felt it but hopefully I am not too bad,” he told the Argus.
“I’ve iced it and had treatment and it feels a little bit better but I’ll see tomorrow [Monday].”
Duffy has been an ever-present in the Brighton defence this season, with the Premier League new boys currently sitting in 14th.
