Aiden McGeady scored an absolute screamer on his Preston debut

The Irish winger’s new club still lost out to Barnsley, however.

AFTER A DIFFICULT spell for club and country, Aiden McGeady is attempting to resurrect his career with a loan spell at Preston North End.

The 30-year-old winger has moved to the Championship club from Everton until the end of the season and made his debut at home to high-flying Barnsley this afternoon.

And McGeady hit an unstoppable 25-yard strike on 64 minutes but couldn’t prevent the away side, who had Corkman Conor Hourihane in their midfield, claiming all three points with the game finishing 2-1.

It’s been clear since he was a teenager that McGeady has got bags of ability, but what’s so frustrating is that he doesn’t produce on a much more consistent basis.
