All Blacks great Lomu 'stable' in hospital

Former wing shifted to Auckland hospital with problems related to his kidney transplant, reportedly.

ALL BLACKS RUGBY legend Jonah Lomu has been admitted to Auckland Hospital but is said to be in a stable condition.

The former New Zealand winger, who starred in the tournament’s opening ceremony, underwent a kidney transplant in 2004.

All Blacks assistant coach Steve Hansen said today: “I heard that (he was in hospital) this morning, which is really sad news.

“Our thoughts are with the big fella and hopefully he makes a speedy recovery.”

Lomu’s wife Nadene told the Herald on Sunday:

“All I can say is my husband is stable and until we know exactly what’s wrong, we are not prepared to comment”.

New Zealand beat pool rivals France in Eden Park yesterday 37-17.
