HARRY KANE SCORED his third straight Bundesliga brace as Bayern Munich beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 to move eight points clear of chasers Borussia Dortmund, who drew 2-2 at RB Leipzig on Saturday.
Bayern played before chasers Dortmund and Kane’s double helped the league leaders grab control of the match and run out to a 3-0 lead before mistakes let Frankfurt score two late goals.
Dortmund needed to beat Leipzig to keep pressure on Bayern, who visit the Westfalenstadion next week, but were down 2-0 at half-time after a Christoph Baumgartner double for Leipzig.
Dortmund forced Romulo into an own goal to cut the lead and former Wolves striker Fabio Silva scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to snatch a draw.
Despite the late point, the result deals Dortmund’s slim title hopes a blow ahead of Bayern’s visit next Saturday.
In Munich, Aleksandar Pavlovic’s low strike gave Bayern the lead and Kane added goals either side of half-time, before giving away a penalty converted by Germany forward Jonathan Burkardt with 13 minutes remaining.
Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich gifted Frankfurt’s Arnaud Kalimuendo a late goal with a poor pass but the hosts held on.
“With the game, I was satisfied until the 75th minute,” said Jamal Musiala, who made his first Bundesliga start since May. “We need to learn from that. We can’t have moments like that.”
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany put a positive spin on matters despite the late hiccup, saying “it shows character to see the game through”.
Kane has now scored more than one goal in a match 13 times this season in all competitions.
The England captain has netted 28 goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances and 43 in total this campaign.
The biggest disappointment for Bayern was a second-half injury to wing-back Alphonso Davies, who only returned after an eight-month absence with an ACL injury in January.

The Canada captain clutched his ankle and pulled his jersey over his face, with Kompany saying Davies will miss “two to four weeks”.
Bayer Leverkusen’s top-four hopes took a hit with a 1-0 defeat at Union Berlin, days after an impressive Champions League win at Olympiacos.
Home captain Rani Khedira overpowered former Union midfielder Robert Andrich to pounce on a loose ball and hammer home in the 28th minute.
The defeat leaves Leverkusen in sixth, three points behind fourth-placed Stuttgart.

Raul Garcia’s superb 90th-minute strike consigned leaders Real Madrid to a 2-1 defeat at Osasuna in La Liga, in a blow to their title hopes.
Champions Barcelona trail Madrid by two points but can overtake them on Sunday if they beat Levante at Camp Nou.
Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid, fourth, got back to winning ways with an entertaining 4-2 victory over Espanyol.
Alvaro Arbeloa’s Real Madrid put on a below-par performance in Pamplona and fell behind to an Ante Budimir penalty, before Vinicius Junior pulled the visitors level.
The second leg of Madrid’s Champions League play-off against Jose Mourinho’s Benfica on Wednesday seemed to play on their minds as they failed to kick on at El Sadar.
Vinicius, who scored a sensational goal to give Madrid a slender first-leg lead but was then the victim of alleged racial abuse, thought he had earned his team a point before Garcia blasted home the winner.
“It was not a good game from us… we have to play a lot better,” Arbeloa told reporters.
“We had control at some points but we lacked speed in our play… on Wednesday we have another final, another game that is very important for us.”

Croatian target man Budimir forced a good save from Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and hit the post as he gave the visitors a host of problems.
The hosts, ninth, took the lead after Budimir burst into the area and went down under a challenge from Courtois.
Although he was initially booked for diving a VAR review showed the goalkeeper stood on his foot, and the veteran forward sent Courtois the wrong way from the spot.
“I knew it was a penalty and I wanted to stay cool (while it was being reviewed),” said Budimir.
Chasing an equaliser, Arbeloa threw on creative duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Brahim Diaz and his team began to take control.
French superstar Kylian Mbappe put the ball in the back of Osasuna’s net but had edged offside, although the equaliser was not long in coming.
Fede Valverde charged into the box and crossed for Vinicius to tuck home.
It was the Brazilian’s fifth goal in his last four games across all competitions, having found his best form since Arbeloa replaced Xabi Alonso at the helm in January.
Mbappe, La Liga’s top goalscorer, should have put Madrid ahead with 10 minutes to go but Javi Galan brilliantly blocked his shot, and Los Blancos paid the price at the death.
Raul Garcia cut inside the sliding Raul Asencio brilliantly and fired across Courtois and in at the far post, with the goal initially ruled out but then proven to be onside with a VAR review.
It was the first time Osasuna have beaten Madrid in La Liga for 15 years.
“It’s an incredible feeling… I think (that fact) is crazy. The fans deserved a victory like this after so many years,” Raul Garcia told DAZN.

Paris Saint-Germain brushed aside struggling Metz 3-0 to go back to the top of the Ligue 1 table, taking advantage of a 3-2 defeat for title rivals Lens at the hands of Monaco.
Lens started the day a point ahead of reigning French and European champions PSG at the summit and were two goals in front in the second half against Monaco, only to capitulate and slip to a first home loss since August.
That gave PSG the opportunity to reclaim first place and they made short work of the division’s bottom club at the Parc des Princes, with Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos scoring the goals.
PSG are now two points ahead of Lens with 11 games of the season remaining, while Lyon in third can move to within six points of the table-toppers if they win away at Strasbourg on Sunday.

Cristian Chivu’s Inter struggled to break down their stubborn hosts but 37-year-old Mkhitaryan and Manuel Akanji struck late to put the pressure on second-placed AC Milan ahead of their match against Parma on Sunday.
Juventus were jeered off after capping a dreadful week with a 2-0 home loss to fellow Champions League chasers Como.
Luciano Spalletti’s men were thrashed 5-2 by Galatasaray in their Champions League knockout play-off first leg in midweek and slumped to another disappointing loss to sixth-placed Como
