KILKENNY’S LEINSTER DRUBBING against Galway will be “irrelevant” when the two hurling powers go toe-to-toe in the All-Ireland decider, Cats manager Brian Cody said yesterday.
The champions were at their scintillating best as they breezed past Tipperary in Croke Park, making a mockery of the supposed parity between the sides to win by double scores, 4-24 to 1-15.
The memory of July’s Leinster final humiliation still lingers, but Cody insists that he and his team won’t need to use revenge as motivation when the sides meet again on 9 September.

“It’s the All-Ireland final and regardless of who won the Leinster final, it’s irrelevant,” he said of the 2-21 to 2-11 defeat. “We can’t win this year’s Leinster final.”
“Ourselves and Galway now, and Galway are in hugely confident form now and rightly so,” Cody told TV3′s Kieran McSweeney. “They gave us a lesson the last day. We know that our backs are to the wall in a big way.”
