Chicharito’s stroke of luck to open United account

We reckon it’s Wembley’s weirdest goal so far.

WHEN A STRIKER is making his competitive debut for a club, it’s usually considered important for him to get his name on the right side of the scoresheet regardless of the means.

Manchester United’s Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, therefore, won’t be too bothered about clinching one of Wembley Stadium’s more unusual goals in the second half of yesterday’s Community Shield win over Chelsea.

Faced with an open goal, the ‘Little Pea’ merely had to tap the ball in – but only managed to do so after scuffing the ball off his face.

In even better news for United, Hernandez has been on excellent pre-season form for the Red Devils – scoring in pre-season games against selections from the MLS and Airtricity Leagues, as well as against United in his last game for his old club, Chivas.

As many United fans will be happy, however, to see misfiring Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov hit the mark.
