THERE WAS A brief hope among Tyrone fans this week that Darragh Canavan might remain for the last two GAA football league games of their Division 2 campaign, after his plans to travel to Australia were thrown into jeopardy.
Canavan was to head off for four weeks in Australia, but his flight was cancelled as it was due to stop over in Dubai, where air transport has been disrupted since the US-Israel-Iran conflict broke out at the weekend.
At the start of the week it was thought that the Errigal Ciaran man might return to Tyrone training, but with time booked off work, he is set to go travelling with America now emerging as a potential destination.
Tyrone have to face Meath and Cork as they conclude the remaining fixtures of a flat league campaign with only an outside chance of promotion to Division 1. After that, they face Armagh in the preliminary round of the Ulster championship on 12 April, with Red Hands manager Malachy O’Rourke stating that Canavan will be available for that tie.

In other news, the 2021 Footballer of the Year, Kieran McGeary, has returned from a spell travelling and has linked back in with the senior squad.
