Win over Monaghan sends Donegal to top of Division 2

A repeat of last year’s Ulster final saw Jim McGuinness’ side triumph by a seven-point margin.

Donegal 2-11
Monaghan 0-10

GOALS FROM COLM McFadden and Odhran McNiallias were enough to hand Donegal victory over Monaghan in the Allianz Football League.

The Tir Conaill men returned to the top of Division 2 after a seven-point victory in Letterkenny as Jim McGuinness got revenge for their defeat in last year’s Ulster final.

They began well and found the back of the next when McNiallias finished off a good move involving Ryan McHugh and Michael Murphy.

On 18 minutes, McFadden added a second with his fist after being set up by Dermot Molloy and Donegal held a comfortable advantage at half-time with the scoreline reading 2-4 to 0-4.

Fintan Kelly and Jack McCarron found scores early in the second half but Donegal added seven more points after the restart to earn a deserved win.
