PATRICE EVRA WILL MEET with Premier League officials in the next 48 hours as the FA continues its investigation into allegations that he was racially abused by Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.
Manchester United will allow the defender to take time out ahead of Sunday’s derby against Manchester City to detail the comments which he says Suarez made ”at least 10 times” during last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Anfield.
The Uruguayan has completely denied the accusations, which were included in referee Andre Marriner’s match report after Evra and United boss Alex Ferguson approached him in his dressing room after the full-time whistle.
This morning’s Guardian reports that Evra’s delay in notifying the match officials may now undermine his claims, and that the FA is likely to dismiss the investigation if its only evidence is the word of one player against another.
However, if one of Evra’s Manchester United team-mates overheard the alleged comments, the investigating panel could call him forward as a witness to substantiate the Frenchman’s claims.
