Grimthorpe: Frankel heading to Ascot for Champions Day

The world’s highest-rated racehorse is heading for the Champion Stakes on October 20th.

FRANKEL WILL RACE in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20th, it has been confirmed by connections of the world’s highest rated racehorse.

Having won the Juddmonte Stakes so impressively last week, Sir Henry Cecil and company immediately discussed their options.

The Prix du Moulin was mooted, as was a mouth watering step up in class to a mile and a half for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

However, Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, has confirmed the intention to race on Champions Day in a brief statement to Press Association Sport.

Grimthorpe said: “Following discussions with Sir Henry Cecil, Prince Khalid has decided that Frankel’s next race will be the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20.”
