KATIE TAYLOR HAS dismissed reports that she is returning to train in Bray Boxing Club.
The Irish Sun had reported that Taylor was set to return to her father’s gym, but the Irish Olympian last night tweeted saying that these rumours were false.
“Contrary to what was reported today, I’m not back training in Bray Boxing Club,” she said.
Pete Taylor had been an ever-present in the boxer’s corner for much of her time in the sport, but has been absent in recent months — a period which has coincided with the worst run of her career.
Her father at the time cited ‘the stress’ of training as the reason for his decision to step away from the spotlight, and his absence was much discussed as Taylor endured a disappointing Rio 2016 Olympics.
Her latest comment suggests Pete’s return to her corner is unlikely to occur anytime soon.
