Leinster secure fortuitous one-point victory over Treviso

A dramatic late drop goal from Jonathan Sexton gave the Irish side the win.

A LATE JONATHAN Sexton drop goal helped Leinster gain a dramatic late 19-18 away win against Benetton Treviso at Stadio Communale di Monigo in the RaboDirect PRO12.

The Irish side found themselves 8-3 down at half-time, following Robert Barbieri’s first-half try, coupled with an Alberto di Bernardo penalty, while Sexton scored the visitors’ sole first-half points with a penalty.

The hosts retook the lead late in the second half, as Brian O’Driscoll’s try and further efforts from Sexton appeared to have been in vain.

A Fabio Semenzato try and a Kris Burton penalty looked to have won it for Treviso, before the outhalf’s late intervention gave Leinster the victory.
