Big names set to exit as Liverpool prepare for summer changes - reports

Meanwhile, the club are being linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze.

TWO BIG-NAME players could make way as Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp prepares to overhaul his squad this summer.

Paul Joyce of the Daily Express and Tony Barrett of The Times suggest that both Christian Benteke and Simon Mignolet are likely to be made available for transfers this summer unless their form improves considerably.

Benteke, who joined Liverpool from Aston Villa in the summer for a reported fee of £32.5 million, has been a big disappointment since moving to Anfield. The Belgian international has been out of favour for much of Klopp’s reign as manager, and was left on the bench for Sunday’s Capital One Cup final loss to Man City.

Meanwhile, despite signing a new six-year contract recently, Mignolet’s form has been inconsistent, and the 27-year-old stopper was at fault for Man City’s goal at the weekend.

Joe Allen, Kolo Toure, Joao Teixeira, Alberto Moreno and Jose Enrique are also being linked with an Anfield exit.

Meanwhile, Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell, Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze and Piotr Zielinski (a 21-year-old Udinese midfielder currently on loan at Empoli) lead the list of potential replacements.

In addition, midfielder Jordan Henderson has urged the Reds to award 23-year-old full-back Jon Flanagan a new contract, with the player’s current deal set to expire in June.

He’s a huge player for us. It’s huge that it gets sorted out. I don’t think players and people like Flanno grow on trees to be honest,” he told reporters.

“You have people like him and Stevie (Gerrard) and Carra (Jamie Carragher) who have come through the academy. The fans feel as though they are one of them really, which they are.”
