'Mama, just killed a man!' - Kiwi commentary on ITM Cup big hit

Scotty ‘Sumo’ Stevenson produced a cracking line after a smashing tackle by Ma’ama Vaipulu.

THOSE WHO WATCH New Zealand rugby at ITM Cup, Super Rugby and international levels are likely to be aware of the commentary prowess of Scotty Stevenson on SKY Sport NZ.

The Kiwi commentator came up with his latest peach of a line during Sunday’s entertaining ITM Cup clash between Counties Manukau and Manawatu.

Counties Manukau number eight Ma’ama Vaipulu produced a big hit on Turbos centre Hamish Northcott, with ‘Sumo’ Stevenson invoking Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ with his characteristically excited reaction in the commentary box.

Vaipulu’s side went on to win 36-35 in a game that featured 10 tries.

Munster fans will likely remember one of the try scorers’ names particularly well, with 32-year-old replacement scrum-half Toby Morland dotting down in the final minute of the game for Manawatu.

Morland played four times for Munster in the Pro12 in 2009 after being drafted in on a short-term contract to provide cover after Tomás O’Leary broke his ankle.
