Murray set for Cardiff disciplinary visit after elbow citing

Meanwhile, Ulster captain Johann Muller faces an extended period on the sidelines with a calf injury.

MUNSTER SCRUM-HALF Conor Murray will travel to Cardiff tomorrow for his hearing with the Independent RaboDirect PRO12 Disciplinary Committee.

The Ireland scrum-half was cited following Friday night’s win over Glasgow Warriors and Joe Schmidt will be among those awaiting the committee’s decision anxiously. The Limerick native’s hearing is set to take place at 1pm.

Meanwhile, Munster are expecting the arrival of new signing Gerhard van den Heever next week, with the South African’s commitments to Western Province now at an end.

The 24-year-old started all 12 games as ‘Die Streeptruie’ earned a spot in last weekend’s Currie Cup final against the Natal Sharks. Unfortunately, van den Heever was powerless to prevent Western Province from suffering a 33-19 defeat. The 6ft 3ins winger started all of those 12 games on the right wing, scoring just one try.

Munster will put van den Heever through a medical examination on arrival and he will begin training with Rob Penney’s squad on November the 11th, following a down week for the squad members who are not involved in the international set-up.

Felix Jones (ankle) returns to training this week in a limited capacity, while flanker Niall Ronan continues his rehabilitation on an ankle sprain. Luke O’Dea suffered a hamstring problem while playing for club side Shannon on Saturday and will be monitored over the course of the week. The 23-year-old only recently recovered from a wrist injury.

Elsewhere, Ulster have been dealt a blow with the news that Johann Muller is expected to be out for four to six weeks. The South African tore a calf muscle in the province’s 39-21 win over Cardiff on Friday and a scan today revealed the full extent of the injury.

Mark Anscombe will be hoping that there are no complications with Muller’s recovery and that he will be fit for December’s Heineken Cup double-header against Treviso.
