Rabo Direct Pro 12: Munster and Connacht secure wins

Tiernan O’Halloran, George Naoupu and Mike McCarthy were all on the scoresheet this evening.

THERE WERE TWO Irish sides in action in the Rabo Direct Pro 12 this evening, with both Connacht and Munster earning wins.

Munster defeated Benetton Treviso 19-6, as new coach Rob Penney won his first game at Thomond Park.

An early try from Doug Howlett, coupled with 14 points from Ian Keatley, was enough for the hosts to prevail against the Italians.

Meanwhile, in tonight’s other game, Connacht won away to Zebre 30-17.

The victory included tries from Tiernan O’Halloran, George Naoupu and Mike McCarthy, while Miah Nikora also contributed nine points from penalties.

And despite second-half tries for the hosts from Dries van Schalkwyk and Samuele Pace, the outcome of the game never looked in doubt, with Connacht dominating for long periods.
