PACE, CLOSE CONTROL and a delicious chipped finish, Patrick McEleney’s solo effort during Dundalk’s 3-0 win over St Pat’s on Saturday underlines why he is so highly-rated.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to the season — scoring four goals in five league outings — and all of his attributes were on display at the weekend as he ran riot at Oriel Park.
With the champions leading 1-0, McEleney collected the ball in midfield before coasting past four red shirts and applying an outrageous finish up and over goalkeeper Conor O’Malley.
We could watch this goal over and over again.
