PAUL POGBA WAS supposed to enjoy a special evening at Old Trafford after being named Manchester United captain for the first time.
But, an apparent hamstring injury has ended his game prematurely and he could now miss the next month.
The Frenchman was handed the armband for United’s Champions League opener against Basel but was forced off after just 19 minutes.
His replacement, Marouane Fellaini, gave the hosts the lead later in the half.
Pogba also picked up a hamstring injury back in March and missed out on international duty with France as well as a pair of United games.
He also suffered with a hamstring-related problem in May, missing two more club fixtures, but did manage to get back in time for the Europa League final.

Big blow if he’s out for a month, he’s been excellent so far this season.
I sense a special hamstring type hairstyle to be on Instagram tomorrow.
To be fair, they’ve looked quicker and better since he’s gone off.
Poor paul I hope it’s not to serious
@Jamie: era I’m sure he’s keeping better than yourself. he may have daft haircuts and an emoji but he’s not an obsessive, needy, multiple account bore.
@Bognor regis: so much hatred in that comment.Do you need a hug buddy? If I could send you an emoji now it would be the face blowing a love heart kiss
@Jamie: no hatred kid, just pity.
@Bognor regis: don’t pity me I’m doing just fine
@Bognor regis: bognor the last guy here not to have Jamie muted
@mark: In my defence I have the rest of his accounts muted! And to be fair he makes the odd valid point when he’s not farting on about united.
@Jamie: obsessed
@FPL Thommo: you two need to get a room. You are as obsessed with him as he is with united.
@Jason Brosnahan: and you’re obsessed with us.
Pogbas special night ??? His new haircut !!
Bang goes my fantasy football chances …
@Ronan McDermott: there’s this new fangled thing called a transfer. Check it out.
@FPL Thommo: Hahaahahahahahahaahaa
Pogba slows the tempo down big time. Mkhitaryan was excellent in a central role bursting forward. Pogba won’t be missed.
@Daniel Donovan: Agreed Daniel. For a player who has recently been revealed as the fastest player at United, he can be very pedestrian st time. I’ve lost count of the number of times he’s had a chance to use his height, strength and pace to push past defenders but instead turns into congested areas, loses possession or tries something clever which doesn’t come off leaving him to make short 5 metre passes sideways or backwards just to retain possession. Very frustrating to watch.
