Ratings success: Over 2 million tune in to each of Ireland's Euro 2012 games

RTE have expressed their satisfaction at the viewing figures for the Irish team’s matches.

APPROXIMATELY 2 MILLION viewers tuned into each of Ireland’s Euro 2012 games, RTÉ announced earlier today.

In addition, an average of 920,000 viewers watched Ireland’s final game of the tournament against Italy last night, despite the side slumping to a 2-0 defeat.

The figure accounts not just for the game itself, but for the entire three and a half hour programme, including Aprés Match and the pre and post match analysis.

Meanwhile, roughly 650,000 people have watched RTÉ’s online coverage of the tournament, which includes over 100,000 views of the popular Aprés Match skit, A message from Angela.
