FOOTBALLERS ARE OFTEN stereotyped as self-obsessed and greedy, however Dutch striker Robin van Persie demonstrated an admirable act of altruism last night.

After his team beat Brazil in the World Cup third-place playoff, Van Persie decided to give his bronze medal away to one lucky fan in attendance.
